It’s been a few months since Hav0c held its last leveling contest, so we figured it would be a good idea to hold one again just before spring comes. Only this time, we aim to attack a problem that has been growing steadily since fall of last year: a Horde take-over. Ever since Hav0c announced that it would permit players to request faction changes via a faction change token that could be purchased in the vote reward shop, players have been moving over to the Horde faction one by one, dwindling Alliance numbers until very few are left.

Why is this a problem? Well for one, WoW is a faction based game with multiple facets of the game relying on PvP. If one faction is highly unbalanced to the other, PvP becomes nonexistent. Another issue is the possibility of Wintergrasp being rescripted at some point in the future. Hav0c would not be able to utilize or even play in Wintergrasp with such unbalanced populations. Aside from that, an unbalanced community detracts from the experience of being a PvP-based server. And we want to fix that.

The Alliance Leveling Contest aims to resupply the Alliance with fresh 80s, and we hope it’s successful. Here are the rules for the event:

1. While experience tokens are allowed during the leveling contest, no other experience-boosting items are permitted. This includes heirlooms and any equippable item that increases experience gain.
2. As always, using any type of 3rd party program or hack to manipulate the game in your favor is strictly prohibited. Players caught doing this not only risk disqualification but also receive an account-wide ban.
3. Characters participating in the event must begin with no more than 0 experience on the start of the event. Players accruing more than 0 experience prior to the start date will be disqualified.
4. Unique to this specific event, Alliance players are the only faction permitted to compete in the leveling contest. This is intended to combat the imbalance of faction population.
5. Players cannot donate for levels while competing in the leveling contest. Level purchases made while competing will disqualify the player from the event.
6. Players are allowed, and encouraged to level in parties. This often makes leveling happen faster. You are also allowed to have high level party mates.
7. Only experience tokens gained from in-game daily quests and tokens gained from voting are permitted for use during the event.

There you will also find statistics on all the players participating in the event, individual stats for each player, as well as who is competing and how far along they are. The primary focus will be the timer, which marks the time you have left to reach 80.

Players who successfully reach 80 in the allotted amount of time will receive: 1 profession at level 300, 5000 gold, any mount (flying or ground), and any 2 pets.

The most recent news I have is that Hav0c recently brought in another new moderator, Wulf. He, along with our other moderator, will soon be helping us by hosting some general events for the server as well as providing general support for our users. So be sure to welcome both our new moderators (Wulf and Ninjaspork) to the Hav0c team, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact one of them for assistance. Likewise, you can always reach a member of staff via the IRC channels.

Two events that are coming up very shortly that will be sure to make our players happy; Hav0c will soon be updating to the newest revision of Trinity core, and we will soon be hosting another leveling contest! C.O. has been hard at work, putting everything together to make this update happen. From what I have heard, we are very close to being ready to shut down the server to begin the update process. Rest assured we will let everyone know ahead of time when to expect server downtime. Soon after we have completed updating the server, Hav0c will be hosting our 4th Annual Leveling Contest, Alliance style! We’ve noticed a significant drop in Alliance players and we’re definitely interested in helping bring back a little bit of balance to the community. Since the update is happening very soon, we will not be able to announce an exact timeframe for the event until after the update is complete. But we know you’re going to like it.

As for the future… nobody knows what will happen next. But Hav0c would love to hear what you’ve got to say! Visit our forums as often as you can and let us know how we’re doing.
