Frequently Asked Questions

This is a compilation of questions and answers that we have encountered throughout the years Hav0c has been around. Just select the category fitting your particular problem, and locate the corresponding question relating to you.

If you cannot find a solution here, you can always check the forums. If you have a question you think should be added to one of the sections below, feel free to PM a member of the staff about it.

1. Technical Support Questions

I’m on the wrong version of WoW, what do I do?
If you came from official servers and already have the game installed, it may be on a higher game version than what is needed by our server (you can see your game version in the lower left corner when you run WoW). Visit our Setup Guide for more information.
Everything is gray! What do I do?
Type “/console fixedFunction 1″ (without quotes) and then restart the game.
How come I can’t chat?
If your chat box doesn’t work, it is possible that you’ve changed the chat settings. To revert any possible change, click on the “General” tab on the top left corner of your chat box, click “Settings” and make sure you have every channel ticked on (unless you plan to create new channel tabs). If this doesn’t work, try the methods described in the “self help” section.
I can’t log into the server.
The first thing you should check is server availability. You can see if the server is offline simply by visiting the front page of the portal and looking at the server info box in the top right-hand corner of the page. There might be a server update, a quick reset to fix something, or a miscellaneous crash. In the latter two cases, the server will be back up in a few minutes. Here are some other options:

  • If you’re a new player, check to see if you’re on the right version of WoW. (3.3.5a)
  • Check to see whether you can login on other characters or not. If only one character gives you an error, consult a GM to find a solution.
I think my account has been lost / stolen!
The Hav0c staff does not assist individuals in regaining access to their account if access is lost. This is an area of liability that we cannot become involved with. For further support, read this thread.

2. General Support

I’m new to World of Warcraft.
There are tons of quality WoW guides available online. Wowwiki’s Newbie Guide for instance is an excellent resource. The Official WoW site has good information for new players as well.

If you find yourself confused in-game, you can always ask other players by joining the World channel (type /join world to chat). You can also ask a GM as well (type .gm ingame and then /w NameOfGM). You also have the option of visiting our IRC Channel, which is available here.

How do I submit screenshots?
You will first need to find a place to host the image file. Imageshack.us is a nice convenient service that doesn’t require you to register. Follow the directions on their site to get a forum friendly link to the image, and simply put that in any post you wish on the forums.
I’m stuck / dead and unable to resurrect.
Always try typing .start in guild chat first (you can chat there when you’re dead and even if you are not in a guild). This command should teleport you to your starting area (a relog may be required). If you were dead, you can use the spirit healer in this location. If this doesn’t work, contact a GM.
I found a bugged quest or item / I can’t complete a quest.
There are four possible remedies for this situation:
  • Write a post on the forum. Include links to Wowhead where possible!
  • Type “.gm ingame” (without quotes) to see whether there are GMs online, and if so, whisper them.
  • Check the IRC Channel to see if there are any available GMs.
    • Note: GMs will often log in to IRC when they are not in game. Even if you see no GM online, going to the IRC channel might be worthwile. You have to say their name to alert them to your presence!
  • Write a ticket. (The ticket system is one of the poorly supported features, so please use the forum if you can.)

Important: Before consulting a GM, check sites like Wowhead and Wowwiki, to see if you’re doing everything right.

If you think a quest is bugged, report it in the Bug Tracker of the forums first! In many cases,a GM may be unable to fix a bugged quest. A scripter has to take a look at it. If you think a spell is bugged, you can post it in the Spells section of the forums, but keep in mind that we can’t fix spells!

My character has been deleted!
  • Characters that have been deleted below lvl 20 will be deleted forever and can not be restored.
  • Characters that have been deleted above lvl 20 will be “unlinked” and will be kept in the database for a period of 2 weeks (14 days).
  • We can only restore unlinked characters, meaning only characters (lvl >= 20) up to 2 weeks after they have been deleted.
  • Character restoration is a decision made by the staff on an individual basis. This means that we reserve the right to deny restoring a character if we feel that rule breaking was involved.
    I submitted a ticket but never got a reply…
The ingame ticket system is seldom used by the staff (although GMs do check it on an infrequent basis). If you have an issue that requires attention, it is generally more effective to visit the support section on the forums in order to get help. You can also visit the IRC Channel for assistance from an available GM.
    Who can fix what?

GMs occasionally have to tell a player that “we can’t fix it”. The list below describes briefly what each staff member (or 3rd party) is responsible for. Generally speaking, we have no direct influence over what Trinity does.

    • The Game Masters. They can fix many player and spawn related problems.
    • The Scripters. Scripter is a general term for staff members who can write fixes for the database, they’re not necessarily scripting anything. A Scripter is automatically a GM, but not vice versa.
    • The TrinityCore team. TrinityCore is a piece of software that is used to make a private WoW server with. It is amongst others in charge of game mechanics, spells and some scripts.
    • The TDB team. TDB is a database for Trinity, with data for all creatures, objects, quests, etc.
How can I correct bugs on my own?
    • Relog – Some problems can be fixed by simply relogging. This means log out of the game, close the client, open it back up, and log in. Simply logging out may not solve your problem.
    • Clear your cache – First logout and close the client. Then go to your World of Warcraft folder (on Windows, the default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\) and delete your WTF and Cache folders. Take care to make backups of your WTF folder because it contains addon settings and custom macros that you may want to keep.
    • Disable addons – An addon might be the cause for the problem you are having. The best way to eliminate this possibility is by first disabling all addons (from the Addons button on the Character Selection menu). If your problem goes away, this is probably the case. Now simply enable your addons one by one to determine which one is at fault.
    • Abandon the Quest and Re-take it – If you have all the items for a quest in your bags but a quest will not complete. Drop the quest and take it again and try to turn it in again.
    What is the Gryphon Minimanager?
The Gryphon Minimanager allows you to make a game account for Hav0c and edit your account settings. But that’s not all! You can:
    • Browse all existing guilds and arena teams
    • View some player statistics
    • Check which in-game commands you can use
    • See the list of all current HAG codes
    • See all your character’s data (select him/her on the account page), including:
      • Currently equipped items, current auras
      • Inventory (bag and bank)
      • All active and completed quests (past and present)
      • Achievements
      • Talents
      • Reputation

Note: the links in this article only work when you’re already logged in. You log in using your game account (not your forum account).

    When are the Bonus Days?
The Bonus Days are based off of Server Time, which you can check by hovering over the Minimap Clock. When not in Daylight Savings Time, the events will start and hour earlier than posted here. (First Sunday in November to the Second Sunday in March)

    Mondays 3PM-6PM & 9PM-12PM – Increased Reputation
    Tuesdays 1PM-7PM & 9PM-3AM – Increased Experience
    Wednesdays 3PM-6PM & 9PM-12PM – Increased Honor
    Thursdays 1PM-7PM & 9PM-3AM – Increased Experience
    Fridays 3PM-6PM & 9PM-12PM – Increased Reputation

Tokens DO NOT stack with the events and will be paused for the duration of the event.

I have a Faction Change Token… Now what?
When you have your Faction Change Token and are ready to use it, contact a GM. You will have to trade that token to the GM to prove you have one. Once the GM is done, you will have to log out and there will be a button next to the character to allow you to change it’s race and appearance. For more information on what happens with your Reputation, Mounts, ect. Visit Blizzard’s Faction Change FAQ Part 1 and Part 2.

    3. Rule Specific

How do I report users breaking rule violations?

Proof is extremely important. Without it we cannot justify taking action against any user. If you observe someone breaking the rules and you are sure you have sufficient proof (depending on the violation, a screenshot is usually best), make a thread in the Wall of Shame. If you don’t know how to take screenshots, follow these simple instructions:

    • Tap < PRNTSCRN > on your keyboard. You should see “Screenshot captured” on your screen.
    • Go to your World of Warcraft directory and open the screenshots folder.
    • Locate your screenshot.
    • Use the “Upload Attachment” to attach the screenshot to your post, or use an image hosting service such as imageshack.us to host your image online.

If you are unsure if there is a violation, or you wish to report a violation directly to the staff, you may use the Personal Issues forum.

I got a warning for posting on the Wall of Shame!

Topics in which players accuse each other of breaking the rules tend to escalate very easily. Therefore, there is a general rule that only the accusing and defending players may post in a rule breaking complaint. Strict application of this rule causes players who say sensible things, but were not directly involved, to get warnings as well. If you have something constructive to say about a topic in the Wall of Shame, PM it to a GM (preferably one that replied to the post).

I was banned ingame, but I also got banned from the forums! (or vice versa) Why?

In some cases, it is decided to ban players from the Hav0c Network altogether. These cases may be (but are not limited to!) hacking and extremely insulting or offensive forum posts. You may ask a friend to ask the GMs to review the decision, but using other’s accounts to keep playing or posting is frowned upon.

I was banned a long time ago. Will you lift my ban?

Hav0c does not remove any permanent bans. You were given ample opportunity to straighten up. Clearly you did not learn your lesson the first three times.

Player X is obviously bug abusing / hacking / wintrading. Why don’t the GMs do anything?

Contrary to popular belief, GMs are not really clairvoyant and omnipotent. Even if you think “everyone knows”, it just might be the case that the staff doesn’t. (For instance, not all of us are active PvP-ers, and the difference in time zones makes it impossible to keep track of everyone playing arenas.)

Do not hesitate to report a case of bug abusing/wintrading/hacking to the GMs, but if you don’t have clear proof (screenshots with timestamps if necessary), use a PM or the Personal Issues forum instead of the Wall of Shame.

How do I find out if I’m banned?

The best way to find out whether you’re banned, is checking the banlist on the forum (warning: takes a little while to load). If you’re banned, your account should be listed there, along with an indication of why you we’re banned (the color of the stars). If it seems you’re banned, but your account is not on the Banlist, contact a GM to find out whether you are really banned.

    4. Helping the Hav0c Server

    Donating?
    • Donate? Why should I donate?
      • The income from donations is used to cover the monthly costs of renting a server and other costs (Chatroom, webserver, advertising).
    • Where can I donate?
    • Why is it called a shop?
      • Hav0c WoW Shop is not a real shop, but a donations collecting site which rewards its donators with small gifts. The site has merely been formed as a shop for practical reasons and conventional use.
    • What do I get for donating?
      • As you use the shop for donating, you will pick rewards for the amount of cash you wish to donate. You will receive those items.
      • Donating $10 or more puts you into our VIP program. Here is what you get as a VIP member:
      • Golden Members [10$+] receive:
        • 1 loyalty point per $10 -> 1 point = $0.5 worth of discount. You can convert points to vouchers to use on the orders you want discounts on. (Note: your order must be bigger than $10 to receive points for it)
        • You may choose a free pet each time the order is bigger than $10
        • A Golden Member rank on the forum with a golden colored username.
        • A special status in the chatroom.
        • Increased PM inbox limit on the forum.
        • Lose all of your forum warnings (if you had any).
      • Platinum Members [$500+] receive:
        • 1 loyalty point per $10 -> 1 point = $0.5 worth of discount. You can convert points to vouchers to use on the orders you want discounts on. (Note: your order must be bigger than $10 to receive points for it)
        • You may choose a free mount each time the order is bigger than $10
        • A Platinum Member rank on the forum with a platinum colored username.
        • A special status in the chatroom.
        • Increased PM inbox limit on the forum.
        • Lose all of your forum warnings (if you had any).
        • If you have been banned in-game, you will lose all previous warnings (this does not lift a permanent ban).
Can I donate for items to be given on Official?

The Hav0c Shop is used only for the Hav0c Gryphon server. The shop is in no way affiliated with official World of Warcraft servers.

How long will it take to process my donation?

It depends. The delivery can take anywhere from 5 minutes up to a week. Currently there is only one staff member delivering the rewards and it all depends if that person is online.

So far all rewards have been delivered within max 2 days.

Make sure you check your e-mail inbox for any notifications regarding your order.

Note: If you use an eCheck to pay, the rewards will be delivered AFTER Hav0c has received the money. This might take longer than a week, depending on the check.

    I want a refund.

All transactions made on the Hav0c shop are considered donations. As such, all transactions are final and will not be refunded.

Can I exchange my donation item for something else?

Exchanges can be made no later than one week from the day you received your items. Contact the shop keeper if you wish to pursue an exchange.

Why am I asked to enter my account details?

Most donations cannot be processed unless you are online. If you are not online when donations are being done, the shop keeper cannot process your donation and you will not receive your items. In the interest of efficiency, having your account details on-hand when donations are done ensures we deliver your items in a timely manner.

Hav0c staff members will never ask you for your account details outside the Reward Shop, and all details disclosed through the shop are kept confidential.

    5. Havoc Automated Gamemaster

    What is the H.A.G.?
The H.A.G. (often written as HAG and short for Hav0c Automated Gamemaster) is an NPC that can provide some of the service a real GM does.
    What is it for?
    • When a lot of players have the same problem, the solution can be programmed into the HAG so the players don’t have to bother a real GM with it all the time.
    • When a player reports a problem and is offline when a GM looks at it, the GM can program the HAG to fix the problem when the player is online again.
    How does it work?
Every action the HAG can do gets its own unique code. To get the HAG to fix you, you enter the code in a dialog screen. (The codes are case sensitive.)
    Examples:
    • Player Jack has lost a crucial quest item (item X). There’s no real GM online at the moment, so he reports it on the forums. Sometime later, a GM reads the report and sees that Jack is offline. He programs a new fix into the HAG, telling her to give Jack item X. This fix gets the code “jackfix”. The GM sends a mail or a PM to Jack telling him the code. As soon as Jack is online, he can go to a HAG and enter the code, and he will get item X.
    • Quest Y is bugged and should be skipped. It’s an important quest, so all players encounter it. The GMs create a new HAG fix that skips quest Y to the next quest (quest Z), with code “skipquestY”, and make a note of it on the forums. All players can then enter this code to the HAG to get quest Y skipped.
How do I enter a code?
    • Talk to a HAG (by right clicking on her) and select the Enter Code option. [image]
    • Type the code in the dialog box and click Accept. [image]
    Where can I find them?
In the center of all capital cities and at the starting locations of every race. Some important towns in Outland and Northrend have HAGs as well, and they’re near the inns.
    What can the HAG fix?
    The HAG can:
    • Give up to three different items
    • Give up to three different quests
    • Remove up to three different quests
    • Complete up to three different quests
    • Learn a spell
    • Give an amount of gold
    • Remove a specific buff
    • Cast a spell on you

… and all combinations of this.

What are the publicly available HAG codes?
The Gryphon Minimanager has a page that shows you what the current publicly available codes are: list of HAG codes. (This link only works if you already logged in; if not, login and look for the HAG codes option in the Database tab.)
Are the HAGs replacing normal GMs?
No, many problems still need regular GMs. They’re more of a small but very useful addition than a replacement.
    Notes on fixes and codes
    • Codes can be bound to a player, an account, or they can be generic.
    • Codes can be one-use (for individual cases) or repeatable (most public codes).
    • The HAG can be programmed to only allow a fix when you meet certain conditions (above level X, completed quest Y, race or class Z).
    What are XP Tokens?
XP Tokens are a brand new idea exclusive to the Hav0c community. It allows players to redeem a token given ingame to any H.A.G. for an allotted timeframe of increased experience. This allows the player to collect as many tokens as he or she wishes, and use them in whatever manner they see fit. The tokens do not stack with each other, nor the bonus XP event. Token will be put on pause for the duration of the bonus events.
    Where do I get tokens?
Tokens can be acquired through many means. Certain custom quests award players with tokens on completion, and GM hosted events may also award tokens. You can also earn tokens by voting on the minimanager voting panel.
How do I use these tokens?
Simply approach a H.A.G. with the token in your bags, and select ‘Activate Rate Boost Token’. The HAG will already know what tokens you have, and you can select which one you wish to enable. You will receive a notification in the chat window when you have enabled your selected XP boost.

    6. Guild Headquarters

What is a Guild Headquarters (HQ)?
Guild Headquarters are special confined areas set aside specifically for guilds ingame. Areas can vary in size depending on the amount of gold you wish to spend. Expect:
    • 5000g – Cave area -> These are not always actual cave areas, but can be small locations similar in size. Cave areas come with basic essentials, and usually can be expanded later depending on the location.
    • 20000g – Medium area -> Medium areas include all of the free essentials that come with a standard HQ, and are quite a bit larger than cave areas.
Why are HQs only allowed certain items / objects / creatures?
We believe that HQs should be able to provide much of the same amenities found throughout Azeroth and Outland. But HQs should not replace the importance and overall role of major cities found ingame. As a matter of integrity, some outland creatures and all Northrend creatures / objects are off-limits to Guild HQs. Veins, deposits, and herbs up to a specific level are allowed at a maximum of 4 instances.

It should be noted that HQ allowed spawns are not dependent on the version Hav0c is running on.

What can I get with 5k gold? 20k gold?
5k gold is the minimum amount needed to purchase an HQ. 5k will get you a small area which includes some basic essentials to include portals to major cities, and a few basic NPCs. 20k will allow you to get a medium sized area with more NPCs and objects. You can also purchase game-objects to be spawned in your HQ for extra gold. You can find more information about this in the forums.

    7. Staff Related Questions

Who are the Hav0c Game Masters?
You can view the current staff listing here.
How do I apply to be a Game Master?
You can read more about applying for the Hav0c staff by reading this thread. Please be aware that if you decide to submit an application, a response will only be given if your application is accepted by the staff.

    8. GryphonBot / IRC

    What is the GryphonBot?
The GryphonBot is a project maintained by Dan (C.O.) that is a continued update of Trinity’s original Trinitychat script. Trinitychat was a project intended to bridge the gap between a trinity core server / realm and IRC. GryphonBot is the successful rebirth of this project and is updated to operate under the latest core. Succinctly, GryphonBot makes it possible for a dedicated IRC channel to send and receive information to include server commands by a GM, server announcements and notifications, messages from other players, as well as derive statistical information from the realm itself.
How can I talk to users ingame or in IRC?
There are two dedicated IRC channels on the Gamesurge network, which Hav0c uses exclusively for IRC services. You can connect to either the Horde or Ally faction channels to see and communicate with players in-game. Likewise, both factions have channels in-game that are connected to the IRC. This is an excellent way to contact a GM who may be idling in either channel.

To join these channels in game type /join irc-ally for the Alliance channel and/or /join irc-horde for the Horde channel. These channels DO NOT allow cross faction communication.

Does the GryphonBot look up information like the old VladBot?
VladBot is severely outdated and is not compatible with the current trinity core. However, Dan (C.O.) has made a fantastic attempt at restoring some of the capabilities of VladBot. That said, it is possible to lookup items, quests, spells, objects, and other various aspects of the game. Hav0c also has a Wowhead bot in the main IRC channel.
